We traveled to Holland and the site of the MHSAA State Meet for the All Division MISCA Invitational. This is a very fast and challenging meet as there were 98 teams represented. They do not keep team scores, but it gave us a chance to compete against very fast athletes and exceptional teams. We swam very well for the point of the season we are at. The medley relay of Afton Presley, Mary Kate Wayne, Avery Hovatter and Kelsie Gillay swam very strong and just off our fastest time of the season. Lila Mckenna and Evelyn Gill competed in the 200 Free event and executed great races. Mary Kate Wayne went a lifetime best 200 IM, and Sara Mitchell competed well against many great swimmers. Avery Hovatter had a very nice 100 Butterfly and was just off her best time. Lila Mckenna and Evelyn Gill swam the 500. Mckenna had a season best, and Gill swam very solid and continues to adjust some things she has been working on. The 200 Free relay was a great swim, as Hovatter led off in a lifetime best, with Gillay, Mitchell and Gill bringing us home for a very nice swim. In the 100 backstroke, Presley battled through some illness and swam a nice race. The 100 Breastroke saw Gillay swim well, and Mary Kate Wayne took 4th in her season best time. The best race of the day for us, was the 400 Free Relay. Lila McKenna led off in a season best, with Hovatter having a lifetime best 2nd leg, Wayne battled coming right out of the 100 Breast, and Gill anchored in a great split. We dropped 3 seconds off our season best and set us up to be ready to excel at the end of the season. This meet allowed the girls to compete at the same venue where our State Championship meet will be in about a month. Our next meet will be the Huron League Championships on Oct. 31st and Nov. 1st in Milan.
