Senior Night and 26 Years of Dominance

We hosted Grosse Ile for our final Dual Meet of the year. The meet also served as Senior Night for 8 incredible young women in our program. We came away with the win to finish at 15-2 on the year overall, and finished 5-0 in the Huron League. This marked our 26th straight year of going undefeated in the Huron league Dual Meets. Milan 122.5 Grosse Ile 63.5 The win sets us up to go into the Huron league meet with a chance to win our 26th straight Huron League Title. We won 11 of the 12 events on the night. Our seniors led the way. Senior Mary Kate Waye won both the 100 Fly and 100 Breast Senior Lila McKenna took the 200 and 50 Free Senior Kelsie Gillay won the 50 free Senior Sara Mitchell won the 200 IM and 100 Back Senior Virginia Heikka was 7th in the 50 Free and 6th in the 100 Free Senior Bri Pumfrey was 5th in the 100 fly and 5th in the 500 free Senior Peyton Bergstrom was 3rd in the 100 backstroke Senior Lyric Lowry swam great in the 50 free and on relays. Mitchell, Wayne, and Gillay were part of the winning 200 Medley Relay Pumfrey, Mckenna, and Mitchell were runners up in the 400 Free Relay. Heikka, Wayne, and Gillay were runners up in the 200 Free Relay This senior class is an amazing set of young women. They are fierce competitors in the pool, but fantastic leaders and team mates. In the classroom, they are phenomenal students. They have been part of a great last four years of Milan Swimming and Diving. Winning 3 Huron League Titles so far, and on track to win a fourth. They have helped lead us to 2 top 5 state finishes, and have helped carry on the legacy of Milan Swimming and Diving. We will miss these 8 tremendously, but look forward to seeing them flourish in life post High School. We wish them the best!!
