We traveled to Riverview for the Huron League Meet on Friday and Saturday this weekend. We battled and won 9 of the 12 events, while accumulating over 25 best times on the weekend. In the end we took 4th over all at the meet and finished 3rd on the League Standings after a 4-1 Dual Meet season in league. We as a staff are incredibly proud of this group. We had a small team, but the girls we had swam and dove their hearts out all year. 1. Grosse Ile 704 2.Riverview 615 3. Flat Rock High School 548 4.Milan High School 536 5. Huron High School (New Boston) 19 The Medley was a win for the Milan Big Reds. Afton Presley, Tori Kimberly, Avery Hovatter, and Ashtyn Bergstrom took the win. The B relay of Sofia Pardo, Emma Brown, Jemma Kovach and kenleigh Vandegrift took 7th. The 200 Free was another win for Milan, as Evelyn Gill cruised to the win, and Cristina Wilson took 9th. The 200 IM was a 1,2 punch, as Hovatter and Presley went 1,2. Both under state cut time. The 50 saw lifetime best swims from Amanda Pena, Kendal Perazzola, Kaylin Brown, Anissa Mustafa. Tori Kimberly was 3rd in the event and Pena scored points taking 18th. Diving was another 1,2 finish for us. Kaylin brown took the win and Haley Lancaster finished a close 2nd. lancaster took right off after finishing Dive Finals to go run at the MHSAA XC Regional Meet and a huge PR drop there as well!!! The 100 Fly saw Hovatter take the win, while Kovach finished 6th in a best time. Emma Brown had a great finals 100 fly to take 14th. The 100 free saw Bergstrom finish 5th and record a lifetime best, while Vandergrift was 8th and swam and had a fantastic meet for us all around. The 500 awas another Big red Win. Gill crushed th field and broke the Pool Record in the process. The pool record was previously held by her former Team Mate Lila Mckenna. Wilson had a 15 second PR as well and finished in 9th. The 200 Free Relay saw the B relay of Wilson, Emma Brown, Sofia Pardo and Pena take 8th, while the Relay of Bergstrom, Vandergrift, Kimberly and Gill finished runner up. The 100 back was another Milan Win. Presley crushed the pool record and finished in 1st. Pardo was 11th, Pena 17th and Perazzola had a life time best swim her. The 100 Breast was another Milan win. Kimberly took 1st, while Kovach was 3rd. Emma Brown had a lifetime best as well and finished in 8th. The 400 Free relay was the final event and another win for us. Hovatter, Presley, Bergstrom, and Gill took the event in state cut time, and the relay of Kovach, Vandergrift, Pardo and Wilson took 6th. We have accumulated 10 state cuts in swimming and both Kaylin Brown and Haley Lancaster have qualified for Regionals in Diving. Dive regionals are Nov, 12th and both Kaiylin and Haley have a strong shot to qualify for State Meet. Thank you for your support and coverage of our hard working Big Reds.
