By Herb Morelock | Oct 15, 2026 2:34 PM

Tuesday night we hosted Tecumseh and a Grosse Ile team that was undefeated so far this year. We cruised by Tecumseh and jumped on Grosse Ile right off the start to take the wins in both contests. Milan 118 Tecumseh 49 Milan 102 Grosse Ile 84 The meet also served as our Senior night as we recognized the contributions and achievements of our three Seniors and Captains, Tori Kimberly, Emma Brown and Kaylin Brown. These three fabulous young women have been part of the program all 4 years, and helped us secure the wins on Senior Night. We won all 12 events against Grosse Ile, and 11 of the 12 against Tecumseh. The path to victory against a tough Grosse Ile team was to win on the top end and fill in with enough depth to pull away. The girls came out with passion and energy right away, and never let up Winners on the night included: Medley Relay of Afton Presley, Jemma Kovach, Avery Hovatter, and Tori Kimberly. Evelyn Gill won the 200 and 100 Free events Hovatter won the 200 IM and 100 Fly Kimberly won the 50 free and 100 Breast. Presley won the 500 and 100 back 200 Free Relay of Ashtyn Bergstrom, Kimberly, Hovatter and Gill 400 Free Relay of Gill, Presley, Kovach and Bergstrom Haley Lancaster and Kaylin Brown went 1,2 in Diving against Grosse Ile and were just behind the overall winner from Tecumseh. Lancaster was phenomenal, and Kaylin Brown was battling through an issue but refused to miss Senior Night and dove fantastic. Senior Emma Brown had a great night scoring in the 100 Fly and swimming a great 100 breast. Other Great swims on the night included: Bergstrom getting 2nd in the 200 Free, and 5th in the 100 free Kovach getting 2nd in the 200 IM and 100 Breast Cristina Wilson had a great 500 to take 4th, and swam exceptional in her relays and 50 free Anissa Mustafa had a lifetime best 50 free Kendal Perazzola had lifetime bests in the 50 free and 100 back Sofia Pardo swam a great 50 free and scored in the 100 back as well. Kenleigh Vandegrift working her way back from injury insisted on competing and looked great. It was nice to have her back in the lanes representing the Big Reds. The win against a previously unbeaten Grosse Ile kept us in the running for a Huron League Title. We will spend the next few weeks gearing up for the League Meet in Riverview on 10-29 through 10-31. The fight and passion these girls showed last night was impressive. They never backed down and believed from the start they could pull off the win. As a staff, we are incredibly proud of each and everyone of them. Thank you for the support and coverage of our program. Photo Credit: Stephen Cook
