The Milan boys swimming and diving team finished its season strong with an 8th place finish at the 2021 MHSAA Division 3 State Finals.

The Big Reds started the meet very strong with a 7th place finish in the 200 Y medley relay. Heikka, Dobrzanski, Kennedy and Parris recorded a time of 1:38.53. The relay would earn All-State honors.

Andy Dobrzanski claimed state championships in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Andy would break a state record in the 100 breast. Dobrzanski went on to be named the swimmer of the meet.

Freshman diver, Steven Gottardi would finish 30th in diving.

Zach Heikka would also earn All-State honors in the 100 Y backstroke, finishing 6th overall, with a time of 53.75. Heikka also finished 15th in the 50 free, time of 22.40.

Ben Stafford finished 27th in the backstroke.

The 200 Y free relay team of Kennedy, Kruise, O’Hare, and Wayne would finish 24th overall, with a time of 1:35.62.

The 400 free relay team of Heikka, Dobrzanski, Stafford, and Parris would finish 8th overall.

East Grand Rapids would win the team state championship, followed by Holland Christian and Cranbrook Kingswood.
