Milan Area Schools Athletics COVID-19 Policy, and return to workout policy

  • Student-athletes must complete the screening process of a temperature check and answer questions regarding their health in the google form. Please complete the google form once you have arrived, you will not be able to submit the form until your temperature is taken. All athletes and coaches should be screened. You will not be allowed to participate until this is complete.
  • A non contact infrared thermometer will be used to take temperatures.
  • Each day the infrared thermometer will be cross checked with an oral thermometer on the athletic trainer and at least one coach.
  • If the non contact thermometer gives a reading for anyone over 99.5 degrees F, an oral temperature will be taken to confirm.
  • Per MHSAA, 100.3 will be the cutoff temperature for sending someone home.
  • If an athlete/coach/official has positive finding on their COVID-19 screening they will

be sent home immediately. If their parents are not present escort them to a designated

isolation room or area away from others and have them wear a mask. They should then be directed to a virtual COVID-19 SSM Health virtual screening visit. The athlete will not be allowed back until they have documentation demonstrating the SARS-CoV-2 test was negative or a note from their healthcare provider indicating they do not need to be tested and their symptoms are not due to COVID-19.

  • If an individual starts to show signs and symptoms of COVID-19 during workouts the coaches should direct them to the AT, where they will be asked to put on their mask, and be directed to an isolated area. Parents will then be contacted. The AT should contact Milan medical to make them aware of a possible case of COVID-19. See above steps as to when the athlete can return to play.
  • Athletes should not come in contact with anyone outside of the workout areas while attending their workouts.
